A white metal grenade for The Royal Artillery (Volunteers) with two lug fastenings (north and south). KK838 or Litchfield & Westlake 18.

Note: Litchfield & Westlake, in their book on The Volunteer Artillery 1859-1908, describe this as the '14 flames' pattern of three similar grenades worn circa 1859-1908 on the pill box cap and peaked cap.
