20th Middlesex Rifles HP

A rare, white metal, helmet plate for The 20th Middlesex (Euston Square) Rifle Volunteer Corps with two lug fastenings (east and west, one a fairly crude replacement).

This plate was worn c1878-80 only, as this unit was then re-designated as the 11th (Railway) Corps. In 1881 it was attached to the KRRC, as a volunteer battalion and transferred to the Middlesex Regiment in 1882 before it finally became the 3rd volunteer battalion of The Royal Fusiliers in March 1890.
