Bedfordshire Regt Officer's HP

A rare silver, gilt and blue enamelled helmet plate for an officer of The Bedfordshire Regiment with three lug fastenings (north, east and west). As KK231.

Note: Kipling & King shows a Victorian crown version of this plate, with the full Bedfordshire Regiment title, and states "a later version has the spelling Regt". It adds: "In 1900, the ground in the centre was changed to black velvet."

Perhaps this is an earlier example plate, although I cannot see an obvious conversion of the crown.
