A lightly-gilded/brass, three-towered, helmet plate centre for The Essex Regiment with all four loops intact. Possibly a non-commissioned officer's badge? KK335.

Note: Kipling & King state the two-towered version was worn from 1881 to 1896, when the castle was redesigned.
