Border Regt (Militia) Officer's Cap Badge

A rare, silvered and enamel, forage cap badge/glengarry badge for an officer of a militia battalion of The Border Regiment with two lug fastenings (east and west).

Note: This badge has been repaired - with replacement lugs and some of the white enamel re-done. It has been suggested to me this might have been the centre-piece of an officer's helmet plate?
