1st VB Berks Regt Officer’s HP

A rare, silver-plated and (faded) gilt, helmet plate for an officer of the 1st volunteer battalion of The Berkshire Regiment with three lug fastenings (north, east and west - opened but intact). HQ at Reading.

Note: The 1st Berkshire Rifle Volunteer Corps became the 1st volunteer battalion, Princess Charlotte of Wales’s (Berkshire) Regiment in 1882. The Berkshire Regiment was in turn granted the Royal title in 1885 so this plate dates to circa 1882-1885 only.
