RA (Vols) Busby Grenade

A white metal busby badge for The Royal Artillery (Volunteers) with a replacement slider fastening. As KK826/Litchfield & Westlake 9.

Note: Norman Litchfield and Ray Westlake, in their book on The Volunteer Artillery 1859-1908, date these badges to circa 1860-78.

The book states: "There appear to have been two distinctive patterns used to which it has been impossible to fix any date or specific period of use."
