Forage Corps Cap Badge

A rare, bronzed, cap badge for The Women's Forage Corps with two lug fastenings (east and west). McHenry & Kellock 2395.

Note: In their book Badges of The Empire's Waggoners, Michael McHenry and David Kellock state this unit was formed in 1915 and attached to the Army Service Corps.

The role of this unit, which employed some 6,000 women, was to supply forage to the British army in order to free men up for overseas service.
