RE (Militia/TA) Officer's HP

An interesting and unusual, gilt, helmet plate for an officer of The Royal Engineers (Militia/Territorials) with three lug fastenings (north, east and west). The reverse bears a plaque for manufacturer Hobson & Sons, 1 3 & 5 Lexington St, London, W. As KK860.

Note: This appears to be a conversion from a Victorian helmet plate. It has an 'ornamental' scroll rather than the usual laurel spray. The unicorn's horn looks to have been repaired/supported.

The Hobson plaque appears to be a white metal/silver-plated version, as you might expect to see on a volunteer helmet plate.
