Early King's Regt Collar Badge
A scarce, blackened, collar badge for The King's Regiment (Liverpool) with two lug fastenings (east and west). Churchill 215.
Note: Churchill dates this style of collar badge, which was very unpopular with the regiment, to circa 1882-1894.
He states: "The badge is also recorded in blackened gilding metal, possibly worn by the 1st Vol. Battalion or as an alternative by the Militia Battalions, both having strong Rifle connections."
This collar badge would appear to be blackened white metal rather than gilding metal.
