N&D Regt WW1 Cap Badge

A scarce, brass, cap badge for The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment) with two lug fastenings (east and west). The reverse bears a plaque for manufacturer J.R. Gaunt London. Some verdigris. KK662.

Note: It is unclear who used this badge. Some ascribe it to a service battalion, others to a territorial battalion.

Some years ago I wrote to the regimental museum, which replied that it was worn by a service battalion.
