1/LG Shoulder Title

A two-part, brass, shoulder title for The 1st Life Guards, with a single lug fastening on the '1' and two hexagonal lug fastenings on the LG (east and west). Westlake 8.

Note: Ray Westlake, in his book on Collecting Metal Shoulder Titles, states the LG also served as the field-service cap badge.

He adds: "No special titles distinguishing the two regiments (the First and Second Life Guards) have been found. It is possible, however, that the separate numbers '1' and '2' may have been worn above the title."

Perhaps this is a 'marriage' and the two pieces were not used together?
