C/5/Essex Shoulder Title

A scarce, brass, shoulder title for the 5th cadet battalion of The Essex Regiment with three lug fastenings (north, east and west) and its backplate intact.

Note: Ray Westlake, in his book on Collecting Metal Shoulder Titles, states 12 Essex Regiment cadet battalions were raised in 1922, although none are illustrated.

Supplement No 2 to the second edition, from 1996, ascribes this title to the 5th (Schools) cadet battalion, recognised in 1916 with headquarters at South Woodford (p180).
