F&F IY NCO’s Arm Badge
A rare, brass, arm badge for a non-commissioned officer of The Fife & Forfar Imperial Yeomanry with two lug fastenings (north and south). As KK1351 - but with the Thane of Fife facing in the opposite direction.
Note: This arm badge was worn by NCOs on both arms on the khaki service dress, hence why they can be found with the Thane facing both ways.
The King's crown and IY combination should date this badge to circa 1902-08 only.
However, the 1911 coronation edition of the Ogilby Trust booklets on yeomanry shows a corporal in his blue jacket with chevrons and the IY arm badge on the right arm. It seems to have continued to be worn as an arm badge until 1914.
