Household Cavalry G6th Cap Badge

A scarce George 6th pattern, silvered (?), cap badge for The Household Cavalry with two lug fastenings (east and west). KK1880.

Note: The reverse is marked for manufacturer Ludlow London, who usually made officer's badges. I am unsure about the use of this badge - any further information would be appreciated.
