19th Middlesex RVC Cap Badge

A scarce, (somewhat faded) blackened brass, cap badge for The 19th Middlesex Rifle Corps with two lug fastenings (east and west).

Note: This badge is shown as Figure 16, plate 10, in Ron Handley's book on The First Londons. He describes it as the original cap badge and dates it to 1859.

It was probably also used by other rifle volunteer units.
