Essex Regt Officer's Post-1902 HP
A rare and attractive, silver and gilt, helmet plate for an officer of The Essex Regiment with three lug fastenings (north, east and west). As KK258.
Note: This appears to be a very neat conversion from a Victorian plate, sometimes done to save the officer from buying a new helmet plate on the change of monarch.
This version has Regt rather than Regiment on the scroll. Head-dress Badges of The British Army Volume 1, by Arthur Kipling & Hugh King, states this version of the title was in use after 1911.
