Essex IY Officer's Cap Badge

A scarce, (slightly faded) gilt, cap/collar badge for an officer of The Essex Imperial Yeomanry/Essex Yeomanry with two short lug fastenings (east and west). KK1490 or Wood 15/19.

Note: Michael Wood's book on The Badges and Insignia of the Essex Yeomanry dates the introduction of this pattern to 1906.

Wood states this pattern was "worn through to at least 1909, and unofficially they were worn through to the end of the Great War and in the case of the gilt pattern to 1939 on the officers' green forage cap".
