Hants Regt Post-1881 Glengarry Badge

A two-piece, brass, glengarry badge for The Hampshire Regiment with its backing plate intact. There are two staple-style loop fastenings on the crown (north and south) and all four intact on the helmet plate centre. KK288/289/328.

Note: Terence Woods, in his book on The Military Insignia of Hampshire and The Isle of Wight, says this badge was worn circa 1897-1901 only (reference 1.53).

These three pieces came together, although the crown is not the usual version. It is a heavier, cast, brass badge seemingly with the two staple-style loops a later addition (perhaps contemporary?). A curiosity!
