Early Border Regt HP

A rare, brass, helmet plate for The Border Regiment. Worn circa 1881-83 only, Some edge knocks and minor verdigris. KK287 /325.

Note: The backplate has one staple-style loop fastening and (unusually) one standard lug fastening (the west' loop, as viewed from the rear).

The centre has three of its four staple-style loop fastenings intact (the 'west' loop, as viewed from the rear, is missing) and a black felt backing.
