1st VB Leicester Regt HP

A post-1902, white metal, helmet plate for the 1st volunteer battalion of The Leicestershire Regiment. Headquarters at Leicester.

Note: The backplate has just one standard lug fastenings (north). Curiously, any east and west lugs appear to be missing, although there is mo evidence they were ever there.

The helmet plate centre has two staple-style loop fastenings (east and west). There is no evidence of the usual central and north loop.

Badges to this unit seem to be unique in being marked for manufacturer J.R. Gaunt & Son B'ham.
