Victorian N Staffs VB Officer's Collar Badge

A nice, silver-plate and gilt, collar badge for an officer of the 1st/2nd volunteer battalions of The North Staffordshire Regiment with two lug fastenings (east and west). Churchill 1569.

Note: olin Churchill, in his book on the History of The British Army Infantry Collar Badge, says the authorities and manufacturers took the instruction to have the plumes, coronet and motto 'on top of the knot' too literally (it was intended to sit above the knot, as with the N Staffs cap badge). The 'error' was correctly shortly afterwards.
