85th Foot Officer's Albert Pattern Shako Plate
An exceptionally rare, gilt, Albert pattern shako plate for an officer of The 85th Foot (Bucks Volunteers, later 2nd battalion of The King's Shropshire Light Infantry).
The plate has two lug fastenings (east and west) and three of four wire loops intact.
Note: Unfortunately, the top pearl on the orb of the crown is missing and one of the four wire loops behind the crown is missing.
This plate is described on p80 of Kipling & King volume 1 but not illustrated.
