Anodised RM WO2's Beret Badge

A two-piece, anodised aluminium, cap badge for The Royal Marines with a screw fastening on the Royal Crest and two lugs on the globe and laurel (east and west). The reverse of the globe and laurel is marked J.R. Gaunt London. Marsh AAQ03/AAQ04.

Note: Marsh attributes this badge to Warrant Officers Class 2. He dates the globe and laurel to the early 1970s but says "probably early 1960s" for this style of The Royal Crest.

Marsh states: "The Corps of Her Majesty's Royal Marines describes how the 'primary' items... are 'mixed and matched' together to create, what is officially known as, 'divided badges'."

In relation to the Royal Crest, AAQ04, he adds: "Royal Marines Lion and Crown - The fixing ring and attachment securing spike of this badge are made of brass with the screw thread being made from another non-ferrous metal."
