17th Lancers Czapka Plate

A rare, brass, lance-cap plate for The 17th Lancers with two screw fastenings (east and west). KK723 or Rowe & Carman 95.

Note: This pattern, which Rowe & Carman describes as pattern D, has just the four Crimean War battle honours: Alma; Inkerman; Balaclava and Sevastopol.

Rowe & Carman notes the four Crimean battle honours were awarded in 1856 while the Central India honour was awarded in 1858. This suggests this was a short-lived pattern of the 17th Lancers czapka plate.
