Worcestershire Regt Valise Badge

A brass valise badge for The Worcestershire Regiment with the usual 'box' fastening. Bennett 1107.

Bennett dates this badge to c1890-1904. He states: "Regimental tradition has it that because 'FIRM' was a distinction of the 36th, it should not have appeared on a badge peculiar to the traditions of the 29th, so the badge was replaced. However, there is evidence that the star with 'FIRM' was still in wear in 1904.
